This 10-day Uganda Budget Safari will take you on a safari adventure in Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking, Murchison Falls National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, and Lake Mburo National Park for game drives and boat cruises to witness various animal and bird species.

You will visit Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for gorilla tracking and Kibale National Park for chimpanzee trekking. It will also take you on a swamp walk through Bigodi Wetlands, where you will witness a variety of bird species.

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport and Transfer to the hotel.

Welcome to Uganda, the Pearl of Africa: Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be greeted by an Otters African Safaris guide and transferred to your booked overnight hotel. Depending on your arrival time at the airport, you will have lunch before heading to your hotel in Entebbe for some relaxation as you prepare for the ultimate Uganda Safari experience the next day.

Day 2: Pick up and Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park with an enroute stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.

After your early morning meal, you will be picked up by an Otter African Safaris guide and driven 4 to 5 hours to Murchison Falls National Park in Masindi, Western Uganda. You will make your first visit to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola, where you will spend an hour on foot following rhinos. After the rhino tracking adventure, you will travel to Masindi for lunch before seeing the top of Murchison Falls, a dramatic waterfall where the Nile squeezes down an 8m wide canyon and plunges with a loud scream into the Devil’s Cauldron, creating a signature rainbow.

From the falls you will continue in the park and you will have a brief evening game drive and then check in at the lodge. Overnight stay and dinner at the lodge.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise on the Nile.

Have your breakfast early in the morning, then embark for an early morning game drive, and proceed into the park to see elephants, lions, leopards, Rothschild’s giraffes, buffaloes, and antelopes such as Uganda kob, topi, eland, and bushbuck.

You will have time to unwind for lunch. After lunch, you’ll board a boat tour to the bottom of Murchison Falls, where you may see aquatic animals including hippos, Nile crocodiles, and water birds. On the way back, take in the sunset before dinner and spending the night at the resort.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park with an evening swamp walk in the Bigodi wetlands.

After breakfast, you will check out of the hotel and begin your drive to Kibale National Park in Fort Portal, Western Uganda, passing through tea farms and rolling hills before arriving at Fort Portal. While in Fort Portal, you will eat lunch before continuing on to Kibale National Park. After settling into the resort, you will go on a guided nature walk in the Bigodi wetlands to view 138 bird species.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

You will wake up early for breakfast and then report to the park headquarters in Kanyanchu for a briefing by the guides on what to do and not do while among the chimps. You will then proceed on a trip in search of chimps, and after you have located a group, you will spend one hour with them studying their various behaviours, as well as spotting other primates around the jungle. After the chimpanzee tracking adventure, you will be given a chimpanzee tracking certificate and returned to the resort for lunch.

After lunch, you will check out of the resort and head to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 6: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel.

Have your breakfast very early in the morning, travel for an early morning game drive to the undulating plains of Uganda’s second biggest National Park, looking out for: lions, leopards, Elephants, buffaloes, hippos, waterbucks, warthogs, leopards, Uganda Kobs, and hyenas. During the journey, any birder will be able to see several birds. Return to the lodge for a relaxation period and lunch.

After lunch at the lodge, you will have a 2-hour boat excursion on the Kazinga Channel, which joins Lakes George and Edward, and you will undoubtedly be intrigued by the concentrations of enormous hippos, buffaloes, elephants, and crocodiles, among other things. At the water’s edge, you’ll also see a wide variety of birds. You will eat dinner and spend the night at the resort.

Day 7: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the Ishasha Sector for tree climbing lions.

After your early morning breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge in Queen Elizabeth National Park and you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the Ishasha sector.

You will have a game drive in the Ishasha sector and you will have a chance to see the tree climbing lions that are seen resting in the fig trees. After that you will proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and you will have lunch along the way.

Day 8: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

You will eat breakfast early in the morning before reporting to the park headquarters for briefing on what to do and not do when among the gorillas. Remember to bring a packed lunch and plenty of drinking water since you may be in the forest till the afternoon looking for these gentle giants in their natural habitat.

The gorilla tracking exercise is a physically tough yet entertaining pastime! You may need to hire a porter to assist you with tracking, which is easily accessible at the park headquarters. When you find gorillas, you get one hour to spend with them and ask all of your questions regarding their behaviour. After tracking, return to the lodge to clean up.

Day 9: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park with an evening game drive.

After breakfast, leaving the hotel for Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda’s smallest Savannah National Park. You will arrive in the park in the afternoon for lunch, after which you will relax before embarking on an evening game drive.

During the nighttime game drive, you’ll see species including giraffes, zebras, impalas, elands, buffaloes, and waterbucks. Following the evening wildlife drive, you’ll return to the lodge for supper and an overnight stay.

Day 10: Morning nature walk and Transfer back to Entebbe International Airport.

After breakfast, the game rangers will take you on a guided morning walking safari led by an armed ranger, where you will get up close to creatures including giraffes, impalas, zebras, and warthogs, among others. After that, you’ll go on a morning wildlife drive before leaving the park for Entebbe International Park.

Along the trip, you will stop at the Equator in Kayabwe for unforgettable images, as well as the renowned water experiment that demonstrates how the planet is divided into the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, allowing you to experience both. You will eat lunch on way before continuing on to Entebbe International Airport.
