Overview:

Join this 9-day Uganda Primates & Wildlife Safari to follow mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and chimpanzees in Kibale National Park for an unforgettable experience. The tour includes a wildlife drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park’s Kasenyi grasslands, a boat excursion on the Kazinga River, and a visit to Ishasha’s tree-climbing lions. This tour includes a walking safari, wildlife drive, and boat trip in Lake Mburo National Park.

After breakfast, an Otter African Safaris guide will pick you up and take you to Kibale National Park in Fort Portal, passing through tea farms and rolling hills before arriving in town. After lunch in Fort Portal, you’ll head to Kibale National Park. After settling into the resort, you will proceed on a guided nature walk through the Bigodi wetlands to view 138 bird species. After breakfast, arrive at the park headquarters in Kanyanchu at 7:30am for a lecture from the guides on how to interact with the chimps safely. You will go on a journey to find chimps and spend an hour with them to observe their behaviour and other monkeys in the bush. After the chimp tracking adventure, participants will get a certificate and return to the resort for lunch. After lunch, check out of the accommodation and head to Queen Elizabeth National Park. After breakfast, take an early morning game drive to Uganda’s second largest National Park, where you can spot lions, leopards, Jackson hartebeest, buffaloes, hippos, waterbucks, warthogs, Uganda Kobs, oribis, and elephants. The drive offers several opportunities for birdwatching. Return to the lodge for a relaxation period and lunch. After lunch at the resort, take a 2-hour boat excursion on the Kazinga Channel between Lakes George and Edward. You will be amazed by the abundance of enormous hippos, buffaloes, elephants, and crocodiles, among others. The ocean beaches are home to a diverse range of birds. After breakfast, proceed to the Ishasha region of Queen Elizabeth National Park, noted for its tree-climbing lions. You will check in at the lodge and enjoy lunch. After lunch, travel for an afternoon wildlife drive on the Ishasha plains to watch tree climbing lions resting in fig trees. Other creatures you may encounter are Topis and elephants. After breakfast, check out of your accommodation in Ishasha and go to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. On the journey to Bwindi, you’ll stop for lunch. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Accommodation; Rushaga Gorilla Lodge/ Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge/ Bakiga Lodge/ Mahogany Springs.
After breakfast, participants will travel to the park headquarters at 7:30am for a briefing on gorilla behaviour guidelines. Bring a packed lunch and plenty of water as you may spend the entire afternoon searching for these gentle giants in their natural habitat. Tracking gorillas is a physically tough yet enjoyable pastime. Hire a porter to assist with tracking, available at the park headquarters. You may spend one hour with gorillas after finding them, which is ample time to ask questions about their habits. After tracking, return to the lodge to clean up. In the evening, Batwa pygmies will perform dances and stories after supper and overnight. Your lodge will serve dinner and provide overnight accommodations. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. After breakfast, depart from the lodge in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to Lake Mburo National Park in Kiruhura area. Arrive at the lodge, enjoy lunch and check in. During an evening game drive at Lake Mburo National Park, you may see many animal species like giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, impalas, waterbucks, bushbucks, warthogs, topis, and common elands. After the wildlife drive, return to the resort for supper and an overnight stay. Meal Plan; Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Accommodation; Eagles Nest Lodge/ Kigarama Wilderness Lodge/ Hyena Hill Lodge.
After breakfast at the resort, you will go on a guided nature walk in Lake Mburo National Park with an armed ranger to see wildlife up close. This stroll will introduce you to many animal species, including giraffes, impalas, zebras, topis, and birds. You will then go back to the resort for lunch. After lunch, embark on a boat trip on Lake Mburo to see creatures including Nile Crocodiles, Hippos, and other bird species. Following the boat excursion, you will return to the resort. After breakfast, check out of the resort at Lake Mburo National Park and return to Kampala or Entebbe International Airport. During your journey, you will stop at the Equator in Kayabwe for photographs and the renowned water experiment, which demonstrates the separation of the Earth into Northern and Southern Hemispheres. You will get the opportunity to experience both hemispheres. After an en-route lunch, travel to Kampala or Entebbe International Airport. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch.
