8-Day Itinerary Overview
Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe, Uganda
Touch down at Entebbe International Airport, where our friendly Otter African Safaris representative will welcome you. Transfer to your lodge for rest and an evening briefing.
Day 2: Entebbe – Kibale National Park
Travel through tea plantations and rolling hills to the primate capital of the world. Enjoy a relaxed evening at your forest lodge.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking & Bigodi Wetland Walk
Embark on a thrilling chimpanzee trek in Kibale Forest. Watch them swing, play, and communicate in their natural habitat. Later, take a community-guided walk through the Bigodi Wetlands to see monkeys, birds, and local crafts.
Day 4: Kibale – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Journey through the scenic southwestern highlands to the home of the endangered mountain gorilla. Enjoy views of terraced hills, crater lakes, and local villages.
Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi & Batwa Cultural Experience
The highlight of your safari gorilla trekking! Spend an hour in awe with a gorilla family, observing their behaviour and emotions. In the afternoon, meet the Batwa pygmies, Uganda’s forest-dwelling people, and learn about their ancient traditions.
Day 6: Cross to Rwanda – Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, cross into Rwanda, “The Land of a Thousand Hills.” Enjoy a scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park with breathtaking views of the Virunga Volcano chain.
Day 7: Golden Monkey Tracking & Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village
Track playful golden monkeys in the bamboo forests. Later, experience traditional Rwandan dance, drumming, and cuisine at the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, an uplifting celebration of culture and resilience.
Day 8: Kigali City Tour & Departure
End your journey with a Kigali city tour, visiting the Genocide Memorial and local craft markets before your flight home.
